Macau Grand Prix
The Macau Grand Prix was inaugurated in 1954. This classic race event is the oldest one among its Asian counterparts and usually held in the third week of November every year, using a temporary street track built on the city streets of Macau. The perimeter of the race track is basically defined by guardrails but it creates a very demanding and challenging circuit that fascinates many racing drivers all over the world.
Formula 3 (F3) race
During the race weekend, the city of Macau is totally filled with the air of motor racing. Many of the city streets are closed in the daytime and turn into a race track. The circuit is made up of the very high speed ocean side section and the technically challenging mountain section, which creates a unique and exciting street race track. As there is virtually no escape zone along the track, only a slight mistake can cause a major accident. Still drivers have to take a risk and attack their opponents because they may have only a few overtaking opportunities during a race due to the nature of the track.
The formula 3 race is one of the main events of the Macau Grand Prix weekend. The race attracts much attention from the whole world as "the race deciding the champion of champions," because many top rankers from the national and regional F3 championships, including those of European countries and Japan, get together and race each other here.
Particularly for young drivers, this race has been considered as a stepping-stone to Formula 1. Looking back the history, the late Ayrton Senna was the winner in 1983 when the race was run with F3 cars for the first time and many drivers have followed his path, being given opportunities to step up to Formula 1 after winning in Macau. The Japanese ace Takuma Sato who achieved the feat in 2001 is one of those Grand Prix drivers.

ADVAN began to supply the one spec standard tires for Macau Grand Prix in 1983, the year Formula 3 cars were introduced into the race. Since then, ADVAN has been the sole F3 tire supplier for 25 successive years as one of the important technical contributors to Macau Grand Prix.
Considering the rough surface of the street race track and fierce battles on it, the standard tires must have a good balance of grip, controllability and durability in a higher level.
The fact that the organizer has relied on the ADVAN racing tires for 25 years clearly shows that the tires have never failed to fulfill those requirements, which leads to earn trust from drivers, team staffs as well as the race officials.
In addition, a round of the World Touring Car Championship, which also designates ADVAN as the sole supplier of its standard tires, has taken place at Macau these years as another main event in the race weekend alongside the F3 race. Therefore, ADVAN now doubles its presence in Macau during the third week of November.
