The state-of-the-art technology to make polymer and silica react chemically is what derived such a high performance.

A compound is usually made by compounding polymer and silica. However, Yokohama Rubber succeeded in creating a compound of higher performance by bringing about a "chemical reaction" when compounding polymer and silica.

A w-shape and tread pattern, which ensure high performance on both wet and dry surfaces, are adopted.

The ADVAN S.T. tire is designed by considering the "steering feel" on dry surfaces and drainage on wet surfaces. While it is an SUV tire, it also equips full-fledged sport performance.

W-shaped multi-directional tread pattern

	The tire adopted a W-shaped pattern that ensures high drainage on wet surfaces. Large blocks of high rigidity also improve performance on dry surfaces (patent pending).

Center twin wide grooves

	Two wide grooves are cut in the center of the tire. The design allows for high drainage on wet surfaces.

Wide tread

	Treads are spread out widely to retain a sufficiently large contact patch. This provides a strong grip.

Random 5-pitch variation

	The pattern with random pitch reduces driving noise. It pursues high steering stability and comfort at the same time.

The hallmark of ADVAN S.T. is its exclusive construction that can support a car's heavy weight at high speeds. Many technologies were employed in creating this sports tire, to a level that is unprecedented among commercial SUV tires.

Steel brace for side parts (not used for all sizes)

	Steel material is used to ensure that the side part of the tire is hard. It derives stability at high speeds and precise handling performance.

Hard filler (not used for all sizes)

	Adopting a seamless belt cover improved the rigidity of the tire. It provides secure handling even during high-speed cruising.

Rayon carcass material

	Rayon has minimal temperature dependency and it hardly alters the characteristic of the carcass. Thus, driving-comfort was improved by the use of rayon on the carcass.
