After a very long trip that took forty-eight hours from Japan, ADVAN's ace Fumio Nutahara arrived in Argentina to take part in the third round of the FIA Production car World Rally Championship.

The third round of the 2007 series was Rally Argentina. Based in the host town Villa Carlos Paz which is a popular resort and not so far from the industrial city of Cordoba, most of the stages were held in a mountainous area at above 1,000 meters elevation.

The time table of this rally was somewhat unusual. The ceremonial start was to be held in the capital city of Buenos Aires some 700km away from the host town and immediately after the start, the Super Special Stage (SSS) was to be run on a temporary course constructed in River Plate Stadium. The rally was set to start properly in the vicinity of Carlos Paz on the next day. Of course, all competitors and rally officers planned to travel on three chartered flights, considering the distance of 700km between the two cities.

In the SSS (SS1) after the ceremonial start, Nutahara marked the seventh fastest time. As the competitive distance of the stage was very short, a slight time gap made a big difference in the standings. Four cars including Nutahara's were equipped with ADVAN tires in this rally, and Leszek Kuzaj (Subaru Impreza) who used ADVAN tires for the first time won the SS1. His performance fully displayed the potential of ADVAN rally tires in the capital city of Buenos Aires.

After the SS1, the plan was for all the parties to move to the main battlefield of the rally, Carlos Paz. But the area around the capital city was inopportunely hit by a thunderstorm, which caused flight delays. To top it all, the delayed flights had to come back to Buenos Aires because of a dense fog around the Cordoba airport! Nutahara's flight wasn't an exception and he was stuck in the air craft for a long time.

Competitors finally came back to Carlos Paz after a long delay and resumed the competition from SS9. ADVAN users showed their strength again in this stage, and Kristian Sohlberg (Subaru Impreza) won it with an overwhelming 14-second margin.

After getting off to a flying start, however, ADVAN users were hindered by accidents and troubles after the SS10 which became the de facto opening stage of the rally.

Nutahara's Lancer hit a rock on the inside of a corner in the SS10 and badly damaged its oil cooler and suspension components. As the car was unable to continue, he applied for the SupeRally rule and started again on the next day after repairing his car. But in Leg 3, the Japanese encountered mechanical trouble in his car's fuel system, which finally resulted in retirement.

Then in the SS12, the point standings leader K.Sohlberg dropped out of the rally due to heavy damage around his front lower arm and Kuzaj, who was fastest in the SS1, lost one of his rear wheels in the SS18. The latter applied for the SupeRally rule, but eventually he couldn't make a start in Leg 3. The only survivor of the ADVAN camp at that point, Spyros Pavlides (Subaru Impreza), also had to give up in the SS21 because of broken rear suspension arm in the closing phase of the rally.

Among the 98 participants, as many as 29 cars failed to finish the Rally Argentina. It turned out to be quite a tough test for ADVAN users, but with two fastest stage times in the SS1 and SS9, they displayed the true performance of ADVAN rally tires in Argentina.
