After only two months since the opening round in July, the China Circuit Championship (CCC) has already entered the closing phase of the season. The fifth round was originally planned to be held at Chengdu, Sichuan but the venue had to be changed to Beijing as well as the fourth round.

This year, the two top teams, Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Racing and Dongfeng Nissan Ghiasports Team, use ADVAN tires and the championship has mostly been contended between them. As a result, the podium has always been occupied by ADVAN users in every race this season so far and one of the main topics of round five was whether the monopoly would continue or not.

In the qualifying session on Saturday, the top slots were filled again by Wang Rui and Han Han of Shanghai VW 333 Racing and Guo Haisheng and Lin Lifeng, both driving Dongfeng Nissan's TIIDA. Those four drivers contended with each other for the fastest time. Among them, Han Han, who would celebrate his twenty-fifth birthday on the next day (race day) recorded a remarkable time and sat on the pole position. He injured the sole of his right foot with a broken piece of glass two weeks ago, just after round four and had to be sewn up. Despite this he managed to get along through the race weekend and his unflinching effort led to the start from the pole position on his birthday. His teammate Wang Rui came in second, which meant that the front row was occupied by their POLOs. Since Dongfeng Nissan's pair, Lin Lifeng and Guo Haisheng took the second row, the top four grids were held by ADVAN equipped cars again.

On Sunday, many fans gathered around Han Han in the paddock. The young author is very popular in China and especiallysupported by schoolgirls. Some of them wanted to give him birthday presents and even birthday cakes that Han Han himself cut and served for his fans.

The main race, the 1600cc class, was to be started around three p.m. Although it was already the season of the harvest moon, the temperature rose above 30℃. Therefore, it was important for tires to keep a high level of performance throughout the race.

At ten minutes to three, the 1600cc class race started. Headed by the pole sitter Han Han, all drivers in the upper echelon made clean starts and kept their positions from the order of the qualifying result. Four ADVAN shoed cars formed the leading group and gradually opened up the space between them and the followers.

The four cars continued to run in single file very closely until the midpoint of the race. But in Lap 17, Wang Rui's POLO, running in second, suddenly lost speed and was passed by Lin Lifeng's TIIDA because the gear lever of Wang Rui's car broke off just as it did in round three.

Although Wang Rui managed to operate the remaining part of the lever somehow and continue to race, his pace had to drop down more or less and he finally lost the third position to Guo Haisheng's TIIDA on Lap 25. As a result, two Nissan TIIDAs looked to secure the podium, following the race leader Han Han's POLO.

The leading ADVAN equipped cars kept a quick and consistent pace until the finish of the race. Han Han scored a pole-to-win to celebrate his 25th birthday and Lin Lifeng and Guo Haisheng in TIIDAs finished in second and third. This meant that ADVAN achieved the podium monopoly six races running since the closing event of last season.

As Han Han won and Wang Rui finished in fourth in this race, the Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Racing secured the team championship of the 2007 season. In addition to this, potential drivers' champions are now narrowed to the point leader Han Han and Wang Rui in second in the standings, so the drivers' title will go to either of Shanghai VW 333 Racing's drivers no matter what.
