Away from Beijing, the northeast of China, round three of the CCC was held at Zhuhai International Circuit in southland. Usually, torrid heat affects everything from cars and drivers to tires in Zhuhai. But this year, due to a typhoon close to Taiwan, the wind blew and it lowered the ambience and surface temperatures.

In the qualifying session on Saturday, Wang Rui driving the Shanghai VW 333 Racing's Volkswagen POLO was the first to mark a notable lap time and he watched the progress of other competitors from his pit. Meanwhile, the reigning champion Guo Haisheng, who has been prevented from finishing higher rank due to bad luck, answered his opponent with a slightly quicker time in his Dongfeng Nissan TIIDA around the halfway point of the qualifying session. In response to this, Wang Rui went out once again and tried to turn the tables, but his last effort was in vain. Consequently, a Nissan TIIDA took the pole position for the first time in quite a while. Guo Haisheng's teammate, Lin Lifeng came in third with another TIIDA and Han Han in another Polo was the fourth fastest. This meant that YOKOHAMA users continued their domination of the top four in the qualifying session again in Zhuhai.

On Sunday, the circuit was crowded with spectators who were cheering their favourite cars and drivers. The main event, the 1600cc race, started at two p.m., the hottest hour of the day. Although it was a bit cooler than usual, the temperature still rose to around 35℃.

After the start, Wang Rui (VW POLO) who was on the second grid came through the first corner as the race leader. The pole sitter, Guo Haisheng (Nissan TIIDA) followed immediately after him for several laps, waiting for an opportunity to get back the lead. Starting from the fourth grid, Han Han (VW POLO) stepped back to fifth at the start and was stuck behind a slower car. But he managed to pass it on Lap 7, regained his proper pace, and started to make up for the gap to the top three.

Meanwhile, an unexpected twist awaited the race leader. At the entry of the hairpin corner on Lap 9, Wang Rui suddenly lost speed and was passed by others. He came in to his pit to check the car, and after spending two and a half minutes in the pit, he went back to the track. However, he had to come back to the pit soon after, because the 'orange ball' flag was shown to him due to a loose engine hood. Then Wang Rui decided to give up the race. His original trouble when he slowed down was a breaking off of the shift lever which wasn't repairable at the pit. As he couldn't shift the gear even after he went back to the track, the orange ball just pushed him to the decision to retire.

After Wang Rui's retirement, Guo Haisheng and Lin Lifeng of the Dongfeng Nissan Ghiasports Team formed a one-two formation with their TIIDAs and Han Han in POLO followed. Eventually, they finished the race in this order and the podium was monopolized by YOKOHAMA users again in Zhuhai.

Normally, the performance of racing tires tends to drop off in a race under hot conditions and lap times during a race are affected by this. But as for those two YOKOHAMA equipped teams, all the cars could maintain superior lap times throughout the race in Zhuhai. The fastest time during the race was Wang Rui's 1'54"017 on Lap 3 and all YOKOHAMA equipped cars generally lapped between 1'54" - 55" brackets during the 19 lap race even when they had to pass the back markers on the track. While the cars equipped with other manufacturers' tires were forced to pace down almost 4 or 5 seconds from their best lap time in the closing stage of the race, YOKOHAMA users saw significantly smaller drop offs of only 1 or 2 seconds and displayed YOKOHAMA's superior performance not only in speed but in durability.

In Zhuhai, it was announced that the venue of rounds four and five would be altered. Those events were originally scheduled to be held at Chengdu, Sichuan but the construction of the circuit that was planned to open this year has been delayed and now those two rounds are to be held in Beijing. The next and fourth round will be run on 9th September at Beijing Golden Port International Circuit. On the twisty track in Beijing where the superior cornering performance is demanded, YOKOHAMA users should perform well again.
