All Japan Touring Car Championship for Group A started in 1985. TEAM ADVAN competed in Division 3 and was the class champion for two consecutive years. |

ADVAN joined the Fuji Grand Champion Series, which started in 1971, from 1982. The GC series saw its conclusion that year, and the all-Japan championship title was offered for the first time. Takao Wada from Team ADVAN ran third in this race. |

- Car equipped with Yokohama tires competes in the Le Mans 24 Hours Endurance Race, and runs third in this first attempt.

In 1980, ADVAN appeared in the All Japan Formula 2 Championship, the top formula race in Japan at that time. ADVAN won its first top formula race two years and nine races later. |
- ADVAN HF Type C, a radial tire for sports driving, is launched.
- ADVAN HF Type D with compression rates of 50% and 55% is developed.
- Yokohama Rubber's first racing radial tire employed in the All Japan Formula 2 Championship. First F2 victory achieved in the second race in which the tire is used, the "Japan Formula Championship."
- Competes in the main race of the Fuji Grand Champion Series.
